Dr. Minka Hotic - Charlotte Dentist

Minka Hotic, DDS
Like most, Dr. Hotic did not enjoy going to the dentist and for this reason she has made it her mission to change the perception of dentistry. Our goal is to educate you and empower you to make the best possible decisions when it comes to your health and teeth. We want to make it a fun and comfortable patient experience. Gone are the days of not loving to visit the dentist.
I knew that dentistry was my calling after volunteering at a dental clinic in Maputo, Mozambique. Witnessing firsthand the impact dentistry could have on one's life by transforming a smile confirmed my calling.
-Minka Hotic

In December of 2006, she graduated from Winthrop University in South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After several years conducting research at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA and working with businesses for Apple Inc, she went on to gain her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of North Carolina Adam’s School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill, NC. While in school, Dr. Hotic was awarded the prestigious Albert Schweitzer Fellowship for her project on providing dental care to underserved children. Dr. Hotic held leadership roles on many committees and on multiple boards; however, most of her focus was on providing dental community service for which she was awarded the Marvin J. Block Community Dentistry Achievement Award. Post-grad, Dr. Minka still continues to volunteer at Wake Smiles dental clinic and the NC Mission of Mercy clinics. She often works with UNC Dental students as an Adjunct Faculty during the DYOR Refugee Clinics which she co-founded while in dental school.

“These past experiences allowed me to expand my knowledge and provided me with the ability to offer the best possible care. I focus on creating a healthy, functional, and beautiful smile. I’m continuously learning and keeping up to date by incorporating the best evidence based products to give patients superior results.”

Dr. Hotic constantly pushes herself further by taking continuing education courses. Dr. Hotic holds current dental licenses in both North and South Carolina. She is Invisalign certified and continued her education in implants (attending Stanley Institute and Implant Pathways) and earned the ICOI (International College of Oral Implantologist) fellowship. Dr. Hotic enjoys the beauty of cosmetic dentistry and has expanded her skills by attending continuing education courses at the world renowned KOIS Center in Washington and doing training with Dr. David Hornbrook in Utah. To give you an idea, the NC dentist is required to complete 15 hours/year of continuing education, while Dr. Hotic averages over 200 hours/year.

She is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, International Congress Of Oral Implantologists, American Academy of Clear Aligners, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and North Carolina Dental Society.

"I love dentistry because it's part science and part art. To top it all off, I get to build long-lasting relationships with patients while providing them with the best possible care.”
